Japan is the second-largest market for healthcare in the world and success in this market was also critical for the client’s global success.

The client was looking for a candidate with extensive experience in medical devices in Japan, who was strategic and aggressive. Their preference was for a Western candidate with strong Japanese communication skills.

Despite the fact that there was only a limited pool of potential candidates meeting these qualifications we were able to present a short list of five highly qualified candidates within one week of the initial brief. The successful placement was based in the US with the right deep Japan experience and willing to relocate to Japan.

In order to effectively drive a healthcare service business in Japan, it was clear that the successful candidate would require a sound understanding of the medical device industry in Japan, including regulatory knowledge and commercial acumen and have a strong background in sales and marketing. The candidate pool meeting these requirements was quite small and the Healthcare & Life Science industry in Japan is particularly conservative.

In spite of these challenges we were able to leverage our extensive network in the industry to provide a short list of candidates within one month of the assignments initiation. The candidate started at the client company within three months.
